Sluice valves

A Sluice valve, is a valve which opens by lifting a round or rectangular gate/wedge out of the path of the liquid. For very thick fluids, a field valve frequently recognized as a knife gate valve is used to cut through the liquid. Gate valves are mostly used to authorize or stop the flow of liquids, but typical gate valves should not be used for regulating flow, if not they are purposely designed for that purpose.
